Putting a Face on Theatre
So this past weekend I went to see the latest summer extravaganza, and was pleasantly surprised to find that one of the trailers ahead of the movie was for Into the Woods! I (like a lot of people) happen to love that musical, and despite some backlash over changing it for the screen, I'm incredibly excited to see it this winter. Here's the teaser trailer I saw:
Another trailer was for Annie. I am less enthralled with the musical of Annie (maybe that's just due to gender) but I have to admit the new version looks like a lot of fun, and a great, fresh contemporary take on the story. Which, frankly, I think it needed. How fresh? Well, it even made the fact that Daddy Warbucks was bald seem like a new, funny development. Here's the trailer for it.
What do you think of these musicals? Are you excited to see them on screen? Do you think they changed too much? Not enough? What musicals would you like to see on screen next -- and what about them would you change?
