I've been thinking about Rogers and Hammerstein's Cinderella for such a situation. Otherwise, Honk is a very good show.

Any ideas of a small musical for a school that has limited male talent?

I did it several years ago. One of my favorite! We got our principal to put on Klingon makeup and record the video portion. You have to have a band, we had 3 in ours, dressed in spaceship uniforms and on stage. I suppose you can always add more non-speaking crew members (who can sing chorus as needed) and make the monster a really big people puppet (ours needed 3 to operate). Side note, I often wonder why we have to increase cast sizes - I have seen too many musicals (Godspell and Charlie Brown to name two) that lost their spirit to a cast of thousands. Break a leg. You want photos, let me know.

Who out there has produced "Return to the Forbidden Planet"? Were you able to to expand it to a cast of thousands? Can you do it without a band?

Looking for insights regarding any production experience with Pirates of Penzance? Anyone?

High school director of a school about to start its second year. Year one was challenging but rewarding, but we are still quite small. Thinking about doing All Shook Up this year. Anyone done it? Challenges?

We just closed Moby Dick! The Musical. It was a blast.
