The prize this week is The Best American Short Plays 2008-2009 from Applause books. On to the pics! Female Odd Couple, Added by Michael HillerThe Female Odd Couple is one of those genius ideas that someone needs to take credit for. (And I don't think it was all Neil Simon, either.) In any event -- the actresses here are having a high time of it. I love the differences in how the women carry themselves, and can almost hear the banter just from this photo. I don't know what's going on between the two of them, but they're both so caught up in their own reality they're barely in the same room. The soft light, his posture as opposed to hers -- I can almost fill in a story here, and isn't that the idea? Biloxi Blues, Added by Ashleigh PoteatAshleigh's no stranger to the Photo of the Week, and she's got a really good one here. The prostitute scene in Biloxi Blues is one of those funny, human, and sweet scenes that Neil Simon does so well. The look on the actress' face here is dynamite -- and Ashleigh's costume design is pretty spot on, too -- she's garish, a little exotic, and dressed for work. The colors also work well with the set.
