Chair for the Phantom

I am looking for help designing the chair for The Phantom. I have gone thru a few designs that though look good on paper, don't work well when built. This chair's function is soley to allow the Phantom to disappear when he sits in it. Anyone ever had to build a chair like this before?

Phantom of the Opera

We are beginning work on our spring high school production of POTO and are looking for some good ideas for the underground labyrinth scene. At the moment we envision building an extension to the front of the stage with a channel or pathway for the boat. Any ideas?
