Event Description

Comedy by Garson Kanin

Director: Nicolette Addice
Producer: Emma Strowger

Billie Dawn is the mistress of Harry Brock, a junkyard baron with the vocabulary of a gangster and the morality of a fascist. With Billie in tow, he’s come to a swank hotel to work out a deal with Senator Norval Hedges, who is a puppet on his purse strings. Billie, however, poses a slight problem. She’s uncultured and uninformed, which makes her a liability. Harry attempts to resolve matters by having a well-read writer named Paul Verrall tutor Billie. Hilarity ensues in this comedy which twists Shaw’s Pygmalion with the swindling political backdrop of 1945 Washington D.C. With its quirky one-liners and even quirkier characters, it’s an absolute must-see.
