Shrek Makeup

Hey there,

I'm putting on Shrek the Musical in a couple of weeks and am looking for some advice on the right makeup for the ogres. Which type, specific color, where to get it, etc...

I'm hoping to choose a makeup that won't rub off or sweat off too easily. I looked at Hydrocolor, which seemed durable, but I've never worked with it before.

I may have to color a skull cap and then color the face and try to match. So, that's another challenge.

First though, has anyone done Shrek or a similar show who might have some insights into makeup questions? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

Comedies for Highschool

Fake crackable eggs?

We are doing a production of Red coming up and I'm wondering if anyone has 'made' fake crackable eggs. They physically crack the eggs to make the tempera paint but are not actually cracking the fake eggs they have.

I know you can drain the yolk and whites from the inside, but can you fill it with anything to make it appear like a yolk when they crack the eggs?

Sometimes I ramble, but sometimes I just can't help myself. I really hate reporting on these industry accidents but it's clear that we have a collective wake-up call that can come from one of our fallen brethren. if nothing else, when a stagehand brother or sister dies on the job, it is our responsibility - our requirement - to learn how to stop that from happening to one more worker.

I'd love your thoughts.

Edible Newspaper

Play we're working up calls for a character to eat a newspaper. Anybody have a source for such a thing? There are sources of edible paper and ink, but before getting involved in that we were wondering if there is any availability of theatrical edible newsprint. Theater Rental Fees

I am writing from Plattsburgh NY. A small town in upstate New York near the Canadian border. After many years of renovation our local historic theater "The Strand" is readying for a grand reopening.

The Strand will seat around 1,000 when in operation. The city of Plattsburgh and the surrounding area has a population of 80,000. The arts council which owns the theater is seeking advice on rental opportunities for the theater. Do theaters in your area charge a flat fee for a presenter, a ticket surcharge, a percentage of the box office, etc.
Anything you could tell us would be of great assistance
