Putting a Face on Theatre
We are doing The Little Mermaid, Jr. as our Spring Musical. MTI only licenses the piano score. We would like to use a small ensemble for our music. I'm wondering if anyone has arranged this score for other instruments and if we could rent or purchase it.

Permalink Reply by Annie Roth on December 17, 2012 at 2:29pm Kids are super excited! We always use a live music ensemble with our productions and those students don't want to be left out of this show. We can score it ourselves but it is a huge undertaking so I'm hoping to find someone that has done it already.

Permalink Reply by John Ogden on December 18, 2012 at 6:45pm I had a similar problem earlier this year when trying to do Into the Woods jr. I contacted MTI and they told me that the way the contracts were written I couldn't do the jr. musicals with live music. Double check your contract to make sure you don't get in trouble.
Permalink Reply by Annie Roth on December 19, 2012 at 6:52am Thanks for the heads up, John. It is so annoying. Our student actors and vocalists are so excited but this creates a huge issue for our student musicians. I will definitely call my rep at MTI to see what I can work out.
