Putting a Face on Theatre

No over arching theme this week, just having fun scoping all the pics from our members. Prize this week is another 2GB jump drive—what can I say? Those things are like water at trade shows. Here are this week’s nominees, read, then go vote!

Follow Your Hunches - Suessical the Musical; by Braden Howard
This picture, like the hands, pops. =) It’s a fun effect captured well here.

Jekyll & Hyde--The Musical; by Bruce Patt
A little saucy this time around. But each of the costumes is rich in color and varied in texture. Plus, I like that each of the actresses is in the same number, but has their own story going on.

Harvey; Sean Patrick Nicholl
Of course the set is stunning. It’s intricate nature give weight and reality to a play that trades on the possible unreality of things. Plus I just that actresses reaction to things.

So go vote!

This photo is from a dress rehearsal for Jekyll & Hyde--The Musical at American River College in Sacramento, Calif. As a freelance photographer specializing in live performing arts, I shot more than five thousand images, from first cast meeting to final dress. I approach photography with an eye toward relationships, both overt and subtle, and this pictures illustrates them in abundance. You can see more at www.brucepatt.com. The dynamic choreography of Sam Williams, costumes (all locally designed and crafted under direction of Gail Russell), and a live pit orchestra provided a great grand opening of the community college's new theater in the autumn of 2008. Thanks for looking, and I hope you enjoy it!

This photo of Harvey is from the 2009 Season at New Harmony Theatre in historic New Harmony, Indiana. I served as the Lighting Designer for this production, and shot photos for all of the NHT productions. This show was a tribute to the eccentrics who refuse to live mundane life and settle for anything less than their wildest imaginations. As I have just recieved my BA and currently interviewing for graduate schools, I hope the world is filled with more who march to the beat of their own drum! -Thanks, Gracias, Mecri, Danke, Diky
