Putting a Face on Theatre
One of these
things is not like the others in today’s Photo of the Week – but the last image literally grabbed me off the computer screen, so I had to include it. This week we’re playing for a 2GB USB thumb drive from Clark Transfer. Clark Transfer is the trucking company behind a lot of the bigger tours on the road, so the USB case is in the shape of a tractor-trailer truck. It’s quite amusing.

I loved the lushness of this photo. The reds, yellows, and purples are fit for a castle. The Pharaoh’s costume is also very nicely detailed.

Another Egyptian musical, this time—wait, chronologically, which events in these stories came first? Has anyone ever thought about that? Did the story in Aida happen before Joseph saved Egypt? Is this something horribly obvious in the score of Aida I’ve just never noticed before? ANYWAYS – back to the photo. The colors in this photo are a lot cooler, but still bright and punchy. I love the sunglasses on the Sphinx, and judging from the hats and dresses on the girls, I’m guessing this might be Benjamin Calypson—but I could be wrong. In any event, the photo certainly makes the production look fun.

And here we go, the one that’s not like the others. Although, if you think about it, the eye is a big motif in Egyptian hieroglyphics… This photo just grabbed me. If you’ve been watching the photo feed, you’ve noticed that a makeup class has been posting their works in progress, then commenting on them. I’ve loved watching them all, but have avoided picking them because I didn’t want to intrude on the teaching process—but this photo really did grab me. As a photo it’s very visually arresting, and I also love the changes in color with the eyeliner.
And there you have it! Now go vote!
