Since the cyc is not the ideal projection surface in the first place (very low gain, generally off white or light blue, etc.) There are many things to consider. </p> <p> </p> <p>Your question is about what surface should you be projecting on. Ideally, you will want a proper projection material. However, on a budget, you may need to look at alternatives. I wouldn't suggest going large to start, there will be too many challenges. I would look at buying used screens from a rental/staging company (many are abandoning old aspect ratio screens, so you can get them for cheap) and adding them to a set. You may also want to consider some of the alternative materials like strech fabric from Dazian or Rose Brand. They are considerably cheaper than actual screen material and can often double for front or rear projection surface. Again, don't think about going for a full stage look, that is unless you have the rest of the equipment to do so, which it doesn't sound like you will.</p>
