Slack to facilitate team communications for show production

Has anyone used Slack to facilitate team communications for show production? If so, any ideas, suggestions or a way to import a successful template, please? Or is it yet another distraction?

"We trained hard... but it seemed that every time we were beginning to form up into teams we would be reorganized. I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet any new situation by reorganizing: and a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while producing confusion, inefficiency, and demoralization."

Hmmm. Looks pretty cool! Would love to see what people think. Multi-channel work communication is a hard nut to crack. If not because of technology limitations then just because of ingrained work practices. I would love to hear from people who use it.

(Here's the web site in case you want to go learn more: https://slack.com)

You might like Quip https://quip.com/KX2JAsfwIqnw
It doesn't integrate as many tools as Slack, but that might be ok for you.
