Putting a Face on Theatre
What the heck should a theatre geek do at NAMM?
NAMM is a huge, HUGE show in the music world. Chances are that if you though seriously at one point about being a rock star, and ever got, or wanted an instrument endorsement deal for your band, you've been to NAMM. Each year in January it takes over the Anaheim convention center and everyone geeks out on new guitar pick-ups, cymbals, speakers, and everything else audio related.
Well, I'll be headed this year too, briefly -- and in between meeting with clients I'm going to walk the floor and find out what theatre geeks can learn from band geeks.
I'll also be meeting with some board members from the Arts Schools Network, a group which promotes arts education -- and I'm looking forward to that.
Anything you want to know? Anyone I need to talk to? Lemme know here. And as I move through the show I'll post my thoughts, pics, and maybe even a little video, here.
Hey now,,,
Have you never been to Namm and need some guidance? or you have been and just getting suggestions?
I have been going for about 22 years and can answer probably most of your questions...
Since I do Theater sound, I have tried to get all the theater angles covered, although as you mention, it is for music biz.
Either way, would like to hook up and say hi.
Let me know easiest way to find you and lets have a beer..

Hey! Nope. Never been to NAMM. Not looking for guidance, necessarily -- but any suggestions you have to offer would be appreciated! I'm only on hte show floor for 1 day, essentially, and have a ton of appointments already lined up -- but any guidance on what would be fun is always appreciated. Follow me on twitter -- @stagedirections -- you'll get a sense of where I'm at. Send me a DM to that address, and we'll see if we can't meet up. No promises -- I've got crazy appointments the Friday I'm there...
Here's my big question: IS there a theatre angle there? What is it?
