Putting a Face on Theatre
First off, I want to give a BIG thanks to one of our inaugural bloggers, Trish Causey. She recently was made Managing Editor over at BroadwaySpace.com. It's a great move for her, and they're a lucky site to have her onboard. Trish had a great series of posts on vocal health, choosing an audition song, and stage management (Stage Management 101, Basic Stage Manager Duties, Basic Stage Manager Tools-Clothes, Basic Stage Manager Tools - Fix-it Shop, Basic Stage Manager Tools - Office Supplies and Extras) during her time as a TheatreFace.com blogger, and we're sad to see her go. Still -- congrats, Trish!
Unfortunately, that means that the TheatreFace.com is down a blogger. So here goes the casting call again! TheatreFace.com is looking for another blogger to add to its ranks -- this time, though, we've got a more specific focus in mind. Think you've got the chops to blog about singing, acting, stage management, and the performance side of theatre? Lemme know! Reply in the comments to this thread for your shot at a paid theatre blogging gig!
We're also looking for some more community involvement in another area. I've been running the Photo of the Week contests, but it's time that someone with a fresh take and new ideas took up the torch. So if you'd like to become a part of the TheatreFace.com team, promote the photos section of the site, and curate the Photo of the Week contest, ALSO comment here. There's no pay for this position at the present time, but you'll be taking a prominent lead in helping keep TheatreFace.com ready for its close-up!

This sounds like a wonderful chance for some lucky blogger to be. Maybe I can be that blogger!
I would add a new element, being a college student studying stage management. I will be graduating this May and have been trained by some great professors and directors throughout my college and professional career. I've done of 20 shows in a short period and have been called "A great recruiter" for stage managers. I would offer a new insight on entering the world of theatre as a college student, and would be able to give a guide (or step-by-step program) for new theatre lovers and enthusiasts.
Some of my recent experience is working with the first female director nominated for a Tony Award (Susan H. Schulman), the first female to run Britain's Royal National Theatre (Di Trevis), and will be traveling to the National Arts Festival in South Africa this summer to stage manage "Revenge of the King" directed by Steve Broadnax. I will graduate from Penn State University with a BFA in Stage Management this May.
My dream in life is to stage manage touring shows, cruise lines, Cirque du Soleil, and eventually Broadway. When I feel like my career as a stage manager is nearing an end, I would love to come back to the college world and teach others how to succeed as a stage manager.
I love this field more than anything in the world, and it would be an honor to pass on my passion and knowledge to any willing to listen.

This is in reply to your call form new bloggers. I have an MFA in directing from Carnegie Mellon, have taught there and at City College of SF and Los Medanos College. I am currently a theatre reviewer for www.examiner.com and for the Berkeley Daily Planet, and you can find my review by googling "Eye From the Aisle." I belong to the American Theatre Critics Association.

I have lots to say about acting, auditioning, and doing Shakespeare in particular.
Tell me how many words you'd like and I'll write you a sample column.

Jacob,
I'd love to help curate the POTW contest. Sounds like a lot of fun and a great way to broaden my artistic mind. It'll also be great to see such a wide variety of content on display. Please let me know the details. Thanks!
Jacob,
I'd be interested in that POTW gig - it helps that I'm a photographer as well as an actor and director. Sort of shameless self promotion - Give me a look - www.loveandlightimages.com.
I would love to curate the Photo of the Week contests. I have a BA in Photography and a BA in Theatre Arts, so I am knowledable about both areas of expertise needed for this task. I am what people like to call an "emerging" photographer and actor, as I've only been in the workforce for a few months, but that means I am more than willing to do this for no pay to gain expirience, and my young eyes can bring a frenshness to TheatreFace.com. I live in Los Angeles, where I am trying to make my way as both stage actor and photographer, with a bit of playwright mixed in.

I'd be very interested in the blogging position!
I'm currently working on my MFA in acting at California Institute of the Arts, and have my BA in Theater and English. My performance experience is mainly comprised of improvisational theater, musical theater and theater for youth with some commercial/industrial film work. On the production side, I was the co-founder of a youth theater company where I worked as producer/director before starting my MFA. In writing, I primarily am a playwright; one of my plays is currently a semi-finalist in the O'Neill Theater's National Theater Conference 2011. I also write and manage my personal blog, michaelyichao.blogspot.com, a humor/comics blog on a variety of topics.
I have quite a bit of experience in blog and essay writing, and would love an opportunity to write for this site. I believe that I will offer a unique point of view; I am a "college student", but I also have worked in the industry for some time. Please let me know if you would like to see a writing sample or resume!
Thanks,
~ Michael Yichao
I am a working professional in the theatre industry as a "video" guy. I've done corporate gigs, rock and roll, legit theater, broadway, and everything in between. I run two blogs currently and can post like a crazy monkey. I am fully versed in web-based blogging, all the technologies that make it go, and have more email accounts than I can keep track of. Contact me and rejoice.
Kidding. It would be great to blog for you guys and offer a perspective from the working world. Cheers!
