Probably the best way to go is to charge them a flat fee for writing and performing your play. Ask for $1000. Be willing to do it for $500.

I run The Playwrights' Co-operative, a membership organisation of playwrights from around the world. If you have a particular idea I am able to place it in front of several hundred playwrights who may already have something you can use or possibly write something for you - because they like writing. Yeah, I'm finding that out! It would be a short play for about 1000 school children. No admission will be charged, and it will be performed.

What kind of script? A Play? Is it going to be performed? Is admission going to be charged? There is no "going rate." You have to be more specific about what it will be used for.

I have been asked to write a 30-minute to 1-hour script for a local Sanitation Services department that encompasses the following: recycling, water conservation, storm water management, air pollution prevention, energy conservation, graffiti, and litter and grease abatement.

Any idea what I should charge to put together something like that??? They do have money, but I haven't a clue what the going rate would be.

Seeking play submissions for participation in NJ play-reading program "Play With a Play"

Boz and the Bard Productions, Inc, (Hackensack ,NJ) offers local area playwrights a chance to hear their scripts read aloud by providing the space, the audience and the readers. Playwrights with a completed draft of a one or two act play, developed to the point where a reading would facilitate the continued development, are invited to submit their works for consideration. Audience members are invited to pick a character and take part in the reading. Afterwards, the writer and the audience engage in a talk-back session, whereby the playwright gets invaluable feedback, much earlier on in the writing process, to apply toward the play's further development. My play, TO THE DEATH OF MY OWN FAMILY, starring Afghan-American actress, Ariana Delawari, was a great success at the San Francisco Theater Festival to a sold out house. Tina, my theatre company concentrates on "theatre off the beaten path" - meaning we don't do shows everyone else does. Not necessarily new works, but check us out at www.roverdramawerks.com.
