Playwrights Conferences

Added a discussion forum to hold people's thoughts on Playwriting Conferences or Festivals. Started it out by populating it with the transcripts of my interviews with Amy Mueller of the Bay Area Playwrights Festival and Jeni Mahoney of the Seven Devils Conference.

And don't forget November is National Play Writing Month!

Boz and the Bard Productions is seeking playwrights interested in submitting their complete, proofread first drafts for our monthly Hackensack, New Jersey play reading program "Play With a Play." In this cold-read program, writers have the chance to hear their scripts read aloud for the first time, earlier on the developmental stage. After the reading, the floor is turned over to the writer to engage in an very informative talk-back session with readers and audience members. Get a jump on correcting awkward sentence and dialog structure or incomplete or weak plot elements. We provide the space and the readers, you provide script copies and leave with great feedback. Please submit via email PDF, Final Draft or Word documents to frank@bozandthebard.com. We have openings for our Oct. 2 session! Also, visit me on Facebook at Frank Avellino "Logo Your Show" and learn how I can fulfill your production's graphic design needs.

My play, HOUND, has been published by NEXT STAGE PRESS. It is a surreal take on The Hound of the Baskervilles, with Watson front and center as a man dealing with the death of his wife, the emergence of Holmes (from a presumably watery grave), and a case that involves a Hound from Hell. It received excellent reviews during its Off-Off Broadway run. Here's a link:

I just had my new farces "The Ex Factor" and "Conference Pairs" published on the same date. The former has already attracted 4 different theatres to perform it, the latter has had no interest at all. Considering both are comparable modern farces, it makes you wonder about the importance of a title wiith a "hook". (The Ex Factor has nothing to do with TV talent shows, btw - the Ex in question is a mischievous ex-wife.)

Katie

I founded (and run) The Playwrights' Co-operative, and assessing plays is what we do. You may not like the feedback, but I guarantee it will be honest! See www.plays4theatre.com or my website www.ianhornby.co.uk

Greetings Playwrights and lovers of plays etc! I am a director, but I wrote a script a while back. It is very personal to me, and so I have been unable to let anyone close to me read it. I need someone who does not know me or my work who would be willing to read my play and give me some honest feedback on it, or if you know someone that would, please let me know. my email is katielynn6410@gmail.com. If you would be interested in doing this for me it would be much appreciated! thanks!!!

Well...to edit what I just said a little...I should probably say "get to" rather than "have to" (hear people's feedback).
