Hi all! I'm propping the show Awake and Sing... And they break a couple records on stage in front of the audience.. Sadly it's a small space and we have a small budget.. Any ideas on the most cost effective way to do it? The play takes place in the 30s so they also have to be the old kind of records. Thanks in advance.
Do you know how to make candy? Just melt sugar, add a little food coloring and pour it into a pie pan with a dowel in the center as a mold and stick it in the fridge. If you really want the texture of a record, just put one in the bottom of the pan. Just make sure it fits perfectly or make a rim with clay. Stick a round printed label on the center and your good to go. I recommend red for the label, it sells it nicely.

I don't know what "small budget" is, but the local goodwill stores typically have $.50 records.
