"We are doing Mary Poppins the last weekend of April.  We will also not be doing any flying.  I am interested in any ideas about the type of flooring to use to pick up the tap shoes in "Step in Time," and how best to mic that."

Mary Poppins

Thinking about putting on the Mary Poppins musical at a Summer Theatre program. The technical challenges are daunting. I think we could be creative, but will audiences still be ok without a big budget for flying nannies and such? I love the show, but the realities of the short amount of time, limited budget, and outdoor challenges make me wonder if it is worth it. Any thoughts?See More

Shrek Makeup

Hey there,I'm putting on Shrek the Musical in a couple of weeks and am looking for some advice on the right makeup for the ogres. Which type, specific color, where to get it, etc...I'm hoping to choose a makeup that won't rub off or sweat off too easily. I looked at Hydrocolor, which seemed durable, but I've never worked with it before.I may have to color a skull cap and then color the face and try to match. So, that's another challenge.First though, has anyone done Shrek or a similar show…See More

Making trees for a forest

I am trying to build trees and had heard that carpet rolls are good for making trunks. If I can get enough of them, then I have to add some greenery to not only give them the bit of realism but also make it easier to be shrouded behind.Does anyone have any better ideas for this? Most of my crew is made up of 14 and 15 year old students so it can't be terribly difficult.See More

Thank you for touching base with me, CM. I hope the fall season for your theatre and related studies is an incredible experience and hope to meet you at USITT or other show someday in the future.

Have a great week-

Good afternoon CM, just wanted to drop a note to say hello from another native 'Minotian'. I had lived in Minot as a kid and still have family there, giving me good reason to drop in and enjoy the town.

I hope the summer treats you well and you continue enjoying time spent with the theatre.
