Why Do I Theatre.....

LAST SHOW ADDED TO YOUR RESUME:
To Kill A Mockingbird (Boo)

LAST SHOW YOU AUDITIONED FOR:
Heaven by George F. Walker for Actors Theatre Of Windsor

DID YOU GET IT:
I did indeed!

LAST SONG YOU USED AT AN AUDITION:
Mr Grinch, sang to audition for 12.13's production of Every Christmas Story Ever Told

FAVORITE MUSICAL(s):
Sweeney Todd (To block that horrible movie version from my mind)

FAVORITE PLAY(s):
Macbeth, King Lear, Zastrozzi:The Master Of Discipline, Doubt:A Parable, No Sex Please We're British.

FAVORITE OPERA(s):
Does "No Opry At The Opry House" count?

FAVORITE ROLE YOU'VE PLAYED, AND FROM WHAT SHOW?:
Playing Ralph, the narrator in A Christmas Story was a gift that even managed to eclipse playing George Bailey in It's A Wonderful Life...

FAVORITE ROLE OVERALL THAT I WOULD LOVE TO PLAY:
I can't wait till I'm the right age to play Lear...
I can't wait until my wife and I are old enough to do On Golden Pond!

SUPERSTITION:
None... how silly they all are... But I won't walk on someone else's if they have them...

YOUR GOAL IN SHOW BUSINESS:
To put on plays... to entertain anyone who will stop long enough for me to make eye contact with them

WHAT WAS YOUR VERY FIRST SHOW?:
My first speaking role was in "Song (?) of The Robert E. Lee" in elementary school, when one of the 'big kids' stopped coming to rehearsal and I was 'bumped up' from the 'chorus'... acting with kids who were 3-5 years older than I was

HAVE YOU EVER HAD A DANCE SOLO?:
Yes... I danced ballet for years.... In theatre, I hoofed in 42nd Street and Kiss Me Kate

HAVE YOU EVER HAD A SINGING SOLO?:
Constantly... often without being asked

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN THE LAST PERSON TO TAKE A BOW?:
I have indeed... but it always feels better to then bow with the company!

HAVE YOU BEEN TO NY?
Nope

HAVE YOU BEEN TO LA?
Nope

WHAT'S THE SCARIEST PART OF AN AUDITION?
Depends on the kind of audition... If it's a cold read, I find nothing scary about them at all... I love hitting fresh pages unrehearsed with people I've never met before... If I have to have something 'prepared' then I spend most of my time 2nd guessing my material and I can allow that to distract me

WHAT'S THE BEST PART OF AN AUDITION?
That there's noting to lose... You'll either get it or you won't, and if you don't get it, it's not personal in the least... A lesson that ginger actors need to learn early on, or they'll never survive.....

NAME A SHOW YOU WOULD NEVER DO AGAIN:
Carousel (The musical) What a total POS!

NAME A SHOW YOU COULD DO FOR YEARS:
Once I get in the groove, I'm content to run a show for decades!

WHAT ARE YOU AUDITIONING FOR NEXT?
There's a TV thing going on I heard about....

DO YOU KEEP IN TOUCH WITH PAST CAST MEMBERS?:
Sure... usually in the next production.

ON A SCALE OF 1-10, HOW IMPORTANT IS GETTING PAID?
There's paid and there's money... There are rewards that trenscend money, that transcend praise, and applause and good reviews in the paper... But if you can get those and a few bucks to put bread on the table and beer in the glass, all the better

SOMETHING EMBARRASSING OR UNEXPECTED THAT HAPPENED TO YOU WHILE ON-STAGE?:
I dried going into a solo in Kiss Me Kate the 3rd night of our run, and walked through my dancesteps with a bleach-white look of terror on my face! LOL

WHO IS THE MOST DIFFICULT PERSON (ON STAGE OR OFF) THAT YOU HAVE EVER WORKED WITH?:
Me

EVER BEEN NAKED ONSTAGE?:
I don't do horror theatre....

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN KILLED?:
Once or twice, but usually I'm the one doing the killing

BEEN DRUNK?:
Actually drunk? There have been a couple of low-pressure situations where I've had a drink or two before going on stage, or even had one or two on stage! Played drunk? Surely!

PLAYED SOMEONE HALF YOUR AGE?:
Not that I recall....

PLAYED SOMEONE TWICE YOUR AGE?:
Oh ya...

CRIED?:
Once or twice even on purpose!

FIRED A GUN?
More than a few times....

BEEN DRENCHED?
In water... In blood... in flop-sweat...

BEEN IN A DREAM SEQUENCE?
Yup... Played a 'ghost' or 'spirit' representing "The Theatre" in a production of Kiss Me Kate that wove in and out of the reality of the show

BEEN KISSED ON STAGE?
For sure!
