What do you aspire to?

What's your best advice to someone wanting to be in the theatre?
Read several hundred plays a year. Yes, several hundred. Find out what books good theatre colleges use for acting and directing courses---get them and read them. Go to every show within driving distance. Audition for everything in sight. If you aren't cast, work any crew that can use you. Don't sit and talk backstage when you aren't busy, watch rehearsal and learn everything you can. If you aren't cast, don't get bitter--get better. NEVER become a critic of your art--be a creator of your art. Watch a grade school play with the same respect you give a Broadway show--both are worthy. See the spirit and heart in everyone's work--and savor the gift it offers you. Never stop learning.
