"Oh yeah! Been there, done that! I was playing Ann Sheridan in a regional production of Man Who Came to Dinner a while back (far too young for the role, the director took a liking to me and I played her as a clawing ingenue, rather than…"

"Hi Rich - I have several sizes of electric candles which can be unobtrusitively turned on, and which actually go out when you blow on them. These are available everywhere - drugstores, home stores, etc. - but they are usually the larger type…"

"Hi Kristine, You're right - this is a great idea! I think there is a learning curve, however, in getting people to think about hsaring and recycling, rather than just throwing theatre items. To that end, I started…"

Suzanne DuCharme commented on Jacob Coakley's group Acting and Directing

Biggest theatrical challenge

I'm new to this group so I don't know what you usually talk about. I'm going to throw this out there: What has been your biggest challenge of late, and how did you deal with it?

Joe Griffin replied to Suzanne DuCharme's discussion Faking the playing of a violin in the group Music
"Well, the sound is produced because of the friction between the bow and strings. I'd imagine if you strung the bow with something that doesn't have much friction, the actor could scrape all he wants and not produce any sound. 1/4"…"

Faking the playing of a violin

Does anyone have a good solution for faking playing the violin on stage? I just worked on a regional production about Paganini, and we cheated by having the actors turn partly upstage while pretending to play against recorded music. (we'd like to eventually do the production again, hopefully in…See More
