I found this out a couple of weeks ago. My husband showed me. He is a lighting designer, but it seem that you can get a couple of applications for the ipod touch that shows gobos from Apollo and a couple of other companies. You can look at the gobo, see what it looks like when it spins and is blurred. The other is just all sorts of gel colors. They each cost $10, but for all those theater people out there its worth it.

I should have known that I would blow a high-stakes audition. A restaurant in Menlo Park is holding a competition for a six-month cabaret gig. Just the sort of gig I've dreamed of for years and years. I went there tonight, and didn't even get through the first round. As I said to my kitties when I got home, if I had a tail, it would be between my legs.
As far as theater work goes, this has been one stinky spring. A hundred "no's" and nary a "yes". At least I've got a "real job" now.
Oh, well.…

Well Annie is all over. The finally two performances went so well. It was almost a packed house each night. Saturday we got a standing ovation. I'm going to miss the togetherness. The let down after a show is really hard on me. But I know from this that I still have the gift He gave me. I am praying that the Lord will open up more doors for me.

The Oregon Shakespeare Theater Festival was planning to incorporate an elevator for their production of Shakespeare’s King John. They had some unique design restrictions to allow them to bring up some large scenic elements stored under the stage.
“The elevator we were building had very little space for a traditional ram or drive,” said Tom Knapp, Production Manager for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival Theater in Ashland, Oregon. In fact, little room or space was an understatement – there was no…

I've been in three
Candides, and I was astonished by the performances given by the teens in this one! Apparently director Jacob Brent saw the 1974 Harold Prince revival as a 15-year-old. It makes innovative use of a rather difficult space in the Montgomery Theater, setting up two smaller stages on either side of the proscenium. There isn't much depth to the production (the lovers don't suffer all that much, really), but Ryan Vasquez makes a really sweet and childlike Candide, and Mimi…

To the Rent cast and crew May 9, 2009 from Andy Salcedo
To say that this has been one of the most profound experiences of my 27 years at MCT would be a huge understatement. You may think that John Tate is your biggest fan --- you would be wrong. From the time it was announced we would be doing Rent, I knew that I wanted to be a big part of it, and unfortunately, I also knew that even when it came out, I was already 10 years too old to be in it if we ever did it at MCT.
When I found out that…

It started out pretty good until I got hit from behind by a car. My hubby, my three girls and I needed to goto Walmart. We didn't get very far. More pain, it's hard for me to walk right now.

Opening night went great. Of course there are some areas that need some work on butter if you count last night as our final dress as well as opening night it wen well. It has been 4 years since I have been at a opening night of a play I have co-directed. I had forgotten how exciting and nerve racking a opening night could be. All the work has been hard on my fibro. I was in a lot of pain yesturday but dealing with the pain was all worth it just so I can work in the theater again.
