Putting a Face on Theatre
New Years Resolution Check In
I've been blogging for TheatreFace for over a year.

What Won't Happen at LDI 2012
LDI is such a big show, but that doesn't mean it can't be any fun. Here's my joking take on all the crazy things that won't happen at LDI this year. I hope you laugh, and tell me what you think won't happen at LDI this year!

2012 Tonys
Congrats to all the nominees and winners at this year's 2012 Tony Awards!
I'm writing that prematurely, and after the fact. I haven't watched the Tonys yet -- I live out on the West Coast where it's time-delayed, and I was also actually out watching theatre this evening, so while everyone's won -- I still haven't seen the show. I *have* seen clips of it though, thanks to YouTube, which I'll gladly share here. Got any more? Let me know, and I'll embed them here.
What was your…

Digital Painting and Printing for Fabric Session at USITT 2012
Here are my notes from the Digital Painting and Printing for Fabric session from USITT 2012. Yes, despite the very tactile nature of the textile side of things, the digital revolution is changing things in costumes just like everywhere else. Building Scenery for Outdoor Theatre Session at USITT 2012

I tried to give credit where appropriate, and to include…

Directing New Years Resolutions
Another week, another blog on the performance side of theater. This week, another list of resolutions for 2012, (which is coincidentally the last year people will care about the Mayans ever).
Last week I talked about my resolutions as an actor for 2012. This week will be a list of a few goals I hope to hit when I'm wearing my directing hat (which is a moose hat,…

My Winter Vacation
Good news! I'm taking my first true vacation in a few years this year! Even better news! I'm headed to England for the first time! I'll be headed to England at the end of February. Some people go to the beach in winter, I go to the theatre, that's just how I roll.
Since we bought the tickets I've been…

Acting New Years Resolutions
It's 2012--end of the world! Only one thing to do: make some lists about artistic goals.
I was going to do a top 10 countdown in the spirit of New Years, but really the items I wanted to include are best represented in an unordered list. So without further ado, here they are:
Have Fun.
We certainly don't do theater for the money. A fellow actor in a show that was in his 80's once told me, "once I stop having fun,…
