Interview with the Playwright Who Interviews Playwrights

For the last couple of weeks, I've been at the Orchard Project as part of the Core Company. If you aren't familiar with either, check 'em out--they're amazing programs where lots of outstanding artists and theater companies get to come, create, experiment, risk, and mix and meet other amazing artists. I've learned so much…

Project Planning: Why Does It Matter?

This week, as you read this, I’m in Venice with my wife celebrating our first ten years together. (Aren’t you jealous?) I had every intention of getting ahead of my game and writing a post in advance about Gantt charts, as promised last week. Unfortunately, life got in the way (as tends to happen), and I’d rather post a quality discussion of Gantt charts than a quickly-whipped together one.

The Prometheus Project: Suzuki

I apologize for the lateness of this update, I have been ill the last couple of weeks. Due to this, I was forced to miss a couple of rehearsals, much to my dismay. The Prometheus Project: Talking It Out

Tonight's rehearsal focused on more of the script then the previous one had. The most notable part of the rehearsal was spent on dividing up the lines. In this particular play, Prometheus is being split into 6 different characters or groups, with each getting their own lines and movement. We discussed where we would be in relation to the space and what part of us would be tied up. I'm going to be tied to the center Prometheus' left leg though it will most likely be my right leg that gets tied.… Continue

The Prometheus Project: Acorns and Potatoes

Tonight was the first rehearsal of the Prometheus Project. I have learned that this is to be a movement-based show (primarily Butoh and Laban movement) and I am very excited to see how it turns out. I am to play the role of Prometheus: Religious Oppression, and I hope to do a respectable job for the show. I have been researching religious oppression all week in preparation for this first rehearsal.

The rehearsal took place on the 4th floor of one of the oldest buildings in…
