Putting a Face on Theatre
On Sunday I got home from a 5 day "personal technology free" trip (which I can't quite use the word vacation to describe, since I did more work than anything else). Right after getting me and my "stuff" in the door, I turned on the TV to catch the last of the Tony's, then fired up the lap top and spent much of the remainder of Sunday evening and yesterday morning reading e-mail and scrolling through my Facebook feed catching up on what had been going on in the world with my friends. While I was gone, I had no internet access and such mediocre cell service that after the first few hours, my phone's battery was almost dead. I just turned if off and put the thing up.
While I enjoy being without the tech toys in short bits, this was the longest span of time I'd been so out of touch, and was surprised when I found that I didn't mind being "unplugged" long term (or longer term...anyway) in the least - and putting the phone away was much easier than I imagined. I never even bothered to charge it until I got in the car to come home. (I think this was largely in part to the fact I had great company and other folks had brought a good portable sound system and we were rarely with out tunes.)
That said, as soon as I was home, I was sure ready to plug back in.
One of the things I found and really enjoyed was the following:
What Your Favorite Shakespeare Character Says About You
A good laugh to help me start thinking in terms of work again, even if my next project isn't Shakespeare.
Until next week,
Cheers,
R
