Putting a Face on Theatre
Stage Savvy the blog was named after Stage Savvy the column, which I started in June of 2003. Started as a way to get the audience more interested in KC Stage and thereby hopefully increasing the subscribers, it was an “ongoing series to try to bring what we do behind the stage and on to the audience – a sort of Theatre for Dummies without the copyright infringement. These articles are to be a primer, a way to get those unfamiliar with certain aspects of theatre a working knowledge of what goes on.”
While it still occasionally tackled subjects geared toward the audience, it slowly developed into more of an editorial column (many of which are on this blog) that included subjects for people such as myself who weren’t professional theatre people but still volunteered heavily. I now consider it a guide to the various aspects of the performing arts, whether it’s marketing tips, editorials, or ways to make your organization better.
Stage Savvy now is a blog that comprises of reviews of performing arts events, as well as various articles I have written that are somehow connected to the performing arts. These articles can be editorial, educational, or reflective in nature, and includes independent film.
