"When have used sand, I mixed sand with "Sculpt or Coat" and put a thin layer of the mixture on the "hill" I built. There was no dust and keeps it in place, so need to rake it. Sculpt or Coat is flexible so it didn't crack.…"

Here are a cople of pics to show what 2 of the LED wash units can do. The grid is 19' high and set is 20'x24'. The area and gobos are 1k 6x12's. This are working great for a color wash with area lights on top of the wash. I am going to get a couple more before my next show and then the color wash will be even better.
